The world is a scary place right now. Even the Oscars ended up in violence. However, for horror fans looking for a place to escape, we’ve got the perfect homestead for you.

40110 Mahanoy Lane in Big Bear Lake, California is a dream for any lover of big-screen chills (check out the listing here on Zillow). On sale for $450,000, every room in this two-bedroom, two-bathroom duplex is inspired by an iconic show or movie, from Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) to Jaws (1975) to Frankenstein (1931).

Franchises referenced in this 848 square foot mountain property include creepy classics such as Scream (1996), Halloween (1978) and the Goosebumps series. Rest your drink on a coffin-shaped coffee table, or snuggle up on a velvet sofa embellished with eyeball cushions. You can even take a nap in front of a giant mural featuring the Gill-Man from The Creature From the Black Lagoon (1954), or make small talk with a life-sized figure of Michael Myers.

Despite its retro theme, the house has all of the modern amenities you can expect—with a twist. Take a shower in a bathroom inspired by the malevolent forest in The Evil Dead (1981), or grab a snack from the Freddy Kruger-adorned fridge. Stranger Things, Netflix’s love letter to Stephen King and all things 1980s, also makes an appearance throughout the property, from the Scoops Ahoy-inspired paint job in one of the kitchens to the fairy light alphabet on the living room wall.

The listing reads: “Each unit has been meticulously upgraded, you’ll find new kitchens, bathrooms, a new concrete driveway, new flooring, lighting, doors and hardware, retro stoves, newly upgraded HVAC units and much much more. Each unit is also complete with its own convenient washer/dryer units and plenty of extra storage with the detached sheds.”

Gaming fans will also appreciate the range of retro consoles dotted about the place, and no nostalgia-inspired home would be complete without an arcade in the closet.

As an added bonus, this property is centrally located with easy access to shopping and restaurants, with Big Bear Lake only a few blocks away.

Recent years have seen box office hits for the revivals of several beloved franchises. The 2018 reboot of Halloween, set 40 years after the original, had the second-highest October opening weekend in U.S. box office history. And the fifth installment of the Scream franchise, featuring original stars Neve Campbell and Skeet Ulrich, was released in January and grossed $140 million at the box office.

The cabins are currently owned by Jade and Rusty Valore and until recently were rented as an Airbnb under the name Stranger Stays. Jade and Rusty are also owners of Rad Coffee, a horror-themed punk coffee company with locations in Covina and Upland.

Jade Valore told Newsweek: “Personally, I’ve been a horror fanatic since I was a child, so I came up with the idea to buy these duplexes to theme out for guests to enjoy because there’s nothing in the U.S. that offers such an amazing and curated experience.

“The cabins were under the business name Stranger Stays, so we’d been promoting and marketing online and also at horror conventions in Southern California. I asked myself ‘if I could build my dream Airbnb, how would I do it?’ And that’s how Stranger Stays started.

“Everything in these cabins was designed and curated by me and my husband Rusty.”

Correction 03/31/22, 3:55 a.m. ET: This article was updated to correct the name of the photographer in the interior photographs. The name was originally spelled Ashley Nichole, instead of Ashly Nicole.
