What will be the colour palette of 2023? Just like fashion, home decor trends come and go, often in a cyclical nature that bounces between bold and neutral. Current events can also have an impact as cultural shifts change our focus as consumers. For example, it’s no coincidence that biophilic interior design is rising in popularity as our eco-consciousness does.

So what can we expect from home colour trends in 2023? We are thrilled to have partnered up with COAT Paints to reveal the biggest colour schemes for the coming year.

Neutrals are here to stay

We’ve collated the top 20 hues that have seen the biggest increase in demand running up to 2023. Shades of green, beige and taupe make up almost 50% of our top in-demand shades. Neutrals aren’t going out of style. It’s such a classic and complementary colour palette that is soft on the eye and allows other interior design features to shine.

The peacefulness of neutrals is supporting its continued popularity at the moment. For example, the colour Mindful made it to number 5 on our list. It’s a bright yet earthy taupe, bringing warm light and calm to a room.

Green neutrals add depth

Our top riser is Darlington with a 1078% increase. It’s the perfect mix of an interesting and biophilic green with yellow and grey undertones to make it more neutral. You can use it as a dark neutral in your interior design colour scheme.

Whether you want to make your plants pop or do something different to the usual dark beige or dark grey neutral, this could be your 2023 colour. Ready to get started with your colour transformation?

Black is back

Black interior design was popping up all over social media in 2022 and signs show that it will influence colour schemes going into 2023. The colour that had the second biggest increase in demand was The Record Store at 207%. It’s a soft, warm black that’s dark enough to make an impact without being too harsh to complement the other interior design elements in a room. Where would a warm black look good in your home?
