New type of theme park opens near Katy Mills mall

Dig World, a heavy construction equipment-themed amusement park, opened its first Texas location in Katy. The park, on 3.5 acres adjacent to Katy Mills mall, provides a hands-on experience for both children and adults in operating heavy equipment including full-size Caterpillar mini-excavators, skid steers and utility terrain vehicles. There’s also a gem mining station, a playground and a turf field with games.

Future Explorers Academy, an early childhood education facility for children ages six weeks to 12 years, will open at Iowa Colony Boulevard and Iowa School Road in the Meridiana community in early 2023. Meridiana resident Margaret Madariaga and longtime early childhood director Sarah Mashuga-Day founded the academy, which is open to both residents and non-residents. The facility will offer before and after-school pick up from Meridiana Elementary and Bel Nafegar Sanchez Elementary.

Little Gym leased 3,000 square feet in Four Corners Shopping Center, 28469 Tomball Parkway, Tomball. Andrew Alvis of NewQuest Properties represented the landlord, GrayHawkesdene LP. Jonathan Aron of Hunington Properties represented the tenant.

Deen’s Cheesesteak & Pizza leased 2,589 square feet in Lakewood Towne Square, at 12700 Grant Road, in northwest Houston. Sarah Thobae of Weitzman represented the landlord.

Chill Milkshake & Waffle Bar renewed its lease for 1,152 square feet in The Market at 1488, a community retail center at FM 1488 and FM 2978 in Magnolia. Kyle Knight of Weitzman represented the landlord.

Deca Dental leased 2,632 square feet in Carpenter’s Landing, located at the intersection of Wallisville Road and Carpenters Landing Way in northeast Houston. Nick Ramsey and Kevin Sims of NewQuest Properties represented the landlord, CL Retail Partners. Evan Reynolds of Dental Space Advisors represented the tenant.

Eye Hub leased 1,996 square feet in Riverstone Place, a development of Wulfe & Co. at 18802 University Blvd. in Sugar Land. Chris Boyd of Xite Realty represented the tenant. Kristen Barker of Wulfe & Co. represented the landlord.

Dutch Bros acquired a 1.23-acre parcel in Fort Bend Town Center, a Kroger-anchored retail center at Texas 6 and Fort Bend Parkway in Missouri City, from NewQuest Properties. Kevin Sims of NewQuest Properties represented the seller. Greg Slusky and Whitney Fisher of Sluco Realty represented the buyer. Dutch Bros will build an 863-square-foot kiosk with two drive-thru lanes with opening targeted for the second quarter. NewQuest is developing an additional 300,000 square feet of retail space in phase two of Fort Bend Town Center.

Eurostar subleased 13,013 square feet at 6545 Westheimer. Joaquin Orozco of Resolut RE represented the sublessor. Shawn Ackerman and Jason Du of Henry S. Miller represented the sublessee.

AutoZone, a 7,424-square foot leased property at 17703 FM 1488 in Magnolia, has changed hands. Alex Wolansky and Gus Lagos of Marcus & Millichap represented the seller.

Black Rock Coffee leased a 2,219-square-foot building at 9540 Texas 6, Missouri City. Andrew Alvis of NewQuest Properties represented the landlord, 190 Octane Retail. Matthew Parsons of JLL represented the tenant.

Howdy Hot Chicken leased 1,948 square feet in Fort Bend Town Center II, at the intersection of Texas 6 and the Fort Bend Tollway in Missouri City, from NewQuest Properties.
